JUMBO

When you go into the Jumbo (WalMart-type) store, the first thing you see are all of the cash registers.  There are no self checking lanes but they have lots of check out girls (they are all girls) and guys (they are all guys) helping you bag your purchases.
There are grocery carts very much like we have.  The only problem is they stock all of the shelves during the day making it very crowded to try to get through the aisles.
There are a few things you notice right away that are different.  For example, the eggs and milk are not refrigerated.  The eggs, by the way, cost $2.34 for a dozen of large.
This is Gail trying to find some two percent milk--it cost $1.38 a quart.

They have a really nice bakery section with lots of fresh bread and pastries.
The fresh produce section is naturally really good.

With lots of peppers.

There is a nice section where you can get fresh fish and meat and cheese, etc.

They also have a good meat section but not nearly as good as we have at our WalMart.

Just for a little comparison information:
We have found that the grocery prices are a little higher than we expected them to be.  Here are a few examples:
14 oz, Box of Raisin Bran--$5.33
Hamburger--$1.75pound
Chicken Breast--$2.58/lb
Large Bag of Tortilla Chips--$3.80
Tomatoes--.63/lb
Small container of margarine--$1.41
Rice--$.74/lb
Six Beef Brats--$6.08
2 Liter bottle of Coke--$1.74

We are eating out a couple times a week and Gail is cooking the rest of the nights.
We had pizza the other night and it was $8.98 for a pretty good size pepperoni and sausage with lots of cheese (we had leftovers).  It was baked in an open oven and we ate at tables outside.  Three beers were $7,66.  We will go there again.
Life is good.
